Anthropic has announced the global rollout of Claude Fable 5, its most powerful model to date, after the United States lifted the export restrictions that limited international availability of the Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models.
What changes with the restrictions lifted
Until now, Anthropic’s most advanced models had limited availability outside the US and a few allied markets for regulatory reasons. The policy change means users and businesses in virtually any country can now access Claude Fable 5 without the previous limitations.
What Fable 5 brings
Fable 5 is positioned as Anthropic’s flagship model, with notable improvements in:
- Long-context reasoning, useful for analyzing extensive documentation or entire codebases
- Reduced hallucinations compared to the previous generation of Claude models
- Performance on agentic tasks, such as using Claude Code and automated workflows
Impact for Spanish-speaking users
With the global rollout, users in Latin America and Spain who previously had restricted or limited access to Claude’s most advanced capabilities can now use Fable 5 normally, on both the Pro and Max plans.
Context: the geopolitical AI race
This move comes as competition between the US and China for AI leadership has intensified, with Chinese models like Kimi K3 or DeepSeek V4 gaining ground on international benchmarks. Lifting export restrictions lets Anthropic compete more directly in markets where it previously had limited presence.
