How we did this review: it is based on Lovable’s official documentation, its published pricing and independent sources. It is not an extended hands-on test of our own, and we say so wherever data comes only from secondary sources.
What is Lovable?
Lovable is an AI app builder: you describe in plain language what you want (a website, an internal dashboard, a small app with users and a database) and it generates the whole project. It produces a front end in React, TypeScript and Tailwind and, by default, a Supabase backend. It’s the best-known example of so-called “vibe coding”: programming by chatting with an AI.
In August 2026 the company announced a $400 million Series C at a $13.3 billion valuation (sources disagree on the exact date), and says 60 million projects have been created on the platform since its launch in November 2024.
How it works
- Agent Mode (default): the AI works through tasks on its own, editing the project.
- Plan Mode (formerly “Chat mode”): it changes nothing. It proposes a detailed plan that you review and approve before any code is written, which helps when you don’t want to spend credits in the wrong direction.
- Visual Edits: you adjust the design by clicking on elements, without asking in chat.
- Supabase: a PostgreSQL database with tables generated from your instructions, user authentication (email and social login), file storage, real-time data and server-side functions (Edge Functions).
- GitHub: two-way sync; what you change in Lovable shows up in GitHub and vice versa, and you can take the code out and host it wherever you like.
- Publishing: one click (or ask the chat). Custom domains are on paid plans; until then the app lives at a lovable.app address.
Plans and pricing in 2026
According to Lovable’s official documentation:
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Limited credits; 5 daily credits that don’t accumulate |
| Pro | $25/mo ($21/mo billed annually) | From 100 monthly credits; custom domains; more credits in tiers |
| Business | $50/mo ($42/mo billed annually) | From 100 monthly credits; team and security features |
| Enterprise | Custom | Tailored terms |
Pro and Business are sold in monthly credit tiers, from 100 up to 10,000: the top tier costs $2,250/mo on Pro and $4,300/mo on Business. Free, Pro and Business all include 5 extra daily credits that don’t accumulate, and monthly credits on annual billing expire one month after the annual period ends. Verified students and teachers get 50% off Pro (100 credits a month) for up to 12 months.
The real cost depends on credits. One of the sources we reviewed says a simple page can use 30 to 60 credits and a small database app 150 to 250; reviews agree that error-fixing loops are what burns the most. With 100 credits a month, the entry plan covers a prototype, not daily work.
One balance for everything. Lovable is moving (gradually, according to its documentation) to a single credit balance that covers building the app, hosting it on Lovable Cloud (database, storage, functions, traffic) and the AI calls the published app makes. Free, Pro and Business workspaces get 20 credits a month for Cloud, and Free gets 4 more for AI. Several user reviews say it has become harder to predict how many credits each request uses since the change.
Who Lovable is for
- Founders and non-programmers who want to validate an idea with something that works, not a sketch.
- Product teams that need a prototype to show customers or investors before spending on development.
- Developers who want a quick first draft and then continue by hand thanks to GitHub sync.
Who it isn’t for
If you already code every day and want fine control over the code, an AI editor like Cursor or an agent like Verdent will suit you better. If you prefer a full environment in the browser with mobile apps and built-in publishing, look at Replit. And if what you need is a content website, a CMS like WordPress will still be cheaper to run.
Verdict
Lovable is about the easiest way to get from an idea to an app that works, and Plan Mode plus GitHub sync solve two classic fears of “vibe coding”: spending credits blindly and getting locked into the platform. The trade-off is that the credit model demands watching your consumption, and the entry plan falls short for continuous use. Use it to prototype and validate; if the project grows, plan the move to your own environment.
